INDIANAPOLIS — Although he no longer wears his FFA corduroy jacket, former National FFA Eastern Region Vice President Coty Back still will see one everywhere he looks.

Back, who was serving as the Indiana FFA assistant director of leadership programs, recently began a new job as the team leader of National FFA officer management.

He noted that this means he will be in charge of the National FFA officers, and although he already is in his new position, his first officer team will be the 2013-2014 National FFA officers, which will be elected on Nov. 2, the last day of the National FFA Convention, which this year is in Louisville, Ky.

“I’ve actually wanted to do this for a while,” he said, adding toward his end of year of service as a national officer is when he realized how much he grew throughout that time period and how he wanted to one day help other youth achieve that same feeling.

Although Back noted he was sad to leave the Indiana FFA and all of its members behind, he added that serving as the team leader at the national level is his dream opportunity and what he believes he is meant to do, whether it is working with the teams of young leaders at the state or national level.

He added that in his position with the Indiana FFA he didn’t get to work directly with the Indiana FFA state officers, but his new job will allow him to work 100 percent with the development and growth of the National FFA officers.

“It was a bittersweet decision to leave Indiana FFA,” he said.

Back noted that he sends a big thank you out to Hoosier FFA young leaders, as well as the Indiana FFA state staff, for everything they have taught him and the memories they have shared with him over the past couple of years.
