INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Agriculture Coalition for Renewable Energy announced its formation across the state following two informational conference calls in March and April.
The conference calls convened farmers, landowners, renewable energy developers, nonprofits and corporations to discuss knowledge and resource gaps related to the intersection of renewable energy and agriculture in Indiana.
“This coalition represents and supports Hoosier farmers and rural landowners who support clean energy projects and technology,” said founding member Don Villwock. “It’s great to have an organization that will prioritize property rights and the family farms that are the backbone of our rural economy.”
Across the state and nation, as energy prices climb, farmers are turning more and more to clean energy — from efficient light bulbs, to energy-efficient grain dryers, to solar panels and wind energy on their land.
These improvements can open new income streams while simultaneously improving efficiency and profitability for farms of all sizes.
Renewable energy projects help generate energy on-farm to efficiently reduce our dependence on foreign oil, providing greater local and national energy security.
IN-ACRE is actively seeking input from nonprofits, the renewable energy industry and agribusinesses that support a clean energy future for Indiana to provide informational blog posts, videos, photos and digital content related to Hoosier agriculture and renewable energy.
