WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Despite being done virtually, the 91st Indiana FFA State Convention still recognized the efforts of FFA members across the state.
The convention focused around the theme “Forge Through the Fire” and encouraged FFA members to forge their own path.
“No matter how hard times get, we can continue to forge our own path today and tomorrow,” said Dillon Muhlenkamp, the 2019-2020 Indiana FFA state president.
Muhlenkamp said that during the uncertain times FFA members have been facing due to strict regulations and restrictions put in place to help slow the spread of COVID-19, it is important for FFA members to never give up on their hopes and dreams and forge ahead.
He said FFA members are put to the test all the time, whether it is at school, at home or in their supervised agriculture experience.
Muhlenkamp said FFA members and alumni always forge ahead no matter what challenge is thrown their way.
“Forge through and meet challenges as we leave a legacy on the ag industry,” he said.
Gov. Eric Holcomb sent a message to FFA members at the convention, telling them that while their convention may be virtual this year, they should still be proud of how they adapted to the challenges presented and still found a way to host their convention.
“While I know you would all rather be together in person, I’m optimistic your spirit won’t be deterred,” Holcomb said.
Sami DeLey, the 2018-2019 Indiana FFA state president, also urged Indiana FFA members to encourage and uplift others.
DeLey said that FFA members need to do what they can to better care for those in the community and encourage others to, as well.
“Who will you encourage today, tomorrow and every day?” DeLey asked.
