TRAFALGAR, Ind. — The Indiana FFA state officers are excited to welcome members to the 2021 Indiana FFA State Convention, which will be held June 14-17 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, Hamilton Southeastern High School and Conner Prairie.
The state officers took time from their busy schedule to answer questions about the in-person event.
What are you most excited about with the 2021 Indiana FFA State Convention being held in-person?
Derrick Williams, reporter: “Without a doubt I’m the most excited for the in-person element. At the beginning of the year I was worried that state convention might have been virtual. It’s a nice sense of relief that things are getting back to normal.”
Kylie Schakel, secretary: “I’m excited it’s at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. It has been at Purdue University for 92 years. We will be the first state officer team to hold convention at a different location.”
Luc Sproles, sentinel: “I’m super excited, like my teammates, to give our retiring address and what it looks like to share those messages.”
Evan Coblentz, treasurer: “I’m looking forward to interact with members, which is super important, because it was the big reason why I wanted to be a state officer.”
What is the one part of convention that you are most looking forward to?
Shakel: “One activity, which is the one I’m in charge of, is the state officer scavenger hunt. At two of the three locations, there will be life-size cutouts of the officers, along with a trivia board. If members get all the answers right, they will be entered for a chance to win a prize.”
Julia Hamblen, president: “I’m excited for session four, when the winners of the leadership development event are announced. It’s a sight to see all the members hard work pay off.”
Sproles: “I’m excited for the past state officer banquet, where we will have the chance to interact and meet them.”
