Survey shows need for rural health care

As of April 30, enrollment in INFB Health Plans totaled over 4,600 enrolled plans, which equates to more than 9,500 Hoosier lives covered.

INDIANAPOLIS — The need for affordable and dependable health care in rural communities continues to grow in Indiana.

In an annual survey, half of new Indiana Farm Bureau health plan holders noted that they joined INFB to be eligible for the health plan.

Twelve percent of plan holders were not previously insured before joining INFB Health Plans.

In the annual Indiana Farm Bureau Health Plans survey, half of new plan holders noted that they joined Indiana Farm Bureau to be eligible for INFB Health Plans, highlighting the need for more affordable and dependable health care in agricultural and rural communities.

Other highlights:

• Half of plan holders stated that their INFB Health Plans premium is less expensive than their previous coverage.

• About a quarter of plan holders saved up to $250 a month.

• Nearly 85% of plan holders reported they would recommend INFB Health Plans to a friend or family member.

• 80% of new plan holders stated they felt well-guided and communicated throughout the application process.

• Nearly two-thirds of new plan holders said they heard about INFB Health Plans through a current INFB member, highlighting the word of mouth across the ag community.

• Nearly two-thirds of current plan holders reported it was very easy to use INFB Health Plans with their current health-care provider and were very satisfied with the choice of health-care providers in their current plan.

Affordability and availability of in-network providers are the top two reasons people joined INFB Health Plans, respectively.

“We do this survey every year to gauge how plan holders are feeling about their coverage,” said Steve Allen, INFB Health Plans manager.

“Hearing directly from both current and new plan holders gives us insight into what is most important to them and how we can continue to best serve their health care coverage needs — whether they have had INFB Health Plans for several years, or they just signed up for a plan.”
