Lake County welcomes new 4-H educator

Kasey Wilhoit, 4-H Youth Development Educator in Lake County.

CROWN POINT, Ind. — After a six-month search, Purdue University hA appointed Kasey Wilhoit as the new 4-H Youth Development educator in Lake County.

Wilhoit will provide innovative learning experiences for local youth through 4-H clubs, events and community initiatives.

“Lake County 4-H has an amazing group of young people and volunteers,” WilhoitS AID. “I’m looking forward to bringing my knowledge and passion to 4-H and making a positive impact.”

Wilhoit grew up in Trafalgar where she spent much of her time playing travel sports. In high school, she was active in FFA, participating in soil judging, parliamentary procedure and forestry judging.

She attended Purdue University where she played softball and earned a bachelor’s degree in agronomy with a concentration in crop and soil management

After completing her undergraduate degree, she attended Marshall University to earn a master’s in leadership studies and continue playing softball.

Wilhoit joins a team of six Lake County Extension Educators, including 4-H educators Jennifer Haynes and Julie Jones.

“Having Kasey Wilhoit as our third 4-H educator is a testament to the evolution of our program and our commitment to reaching new audiences,” said Haynes, who has guided the Lake County 4-H program since 2007.

“Her fresh energy and expertise come at a crucial time as we implement new programs and take on exciting initiatives to better serve our youth and community.”
