2022 Illinois Dairy Summit connecting producers in-person and virtually on Feb. 2

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Illinois Milk Producers Association and University of Illinois Dairy Extension have joined forces for the 12th annual Illinois Dairy Summit.

Mike Hutjens and Derek Nolan will team up with IMPA to coordinate and present this year’s event.

The 2022 Illinois Dairy Summit will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 2, and will be hosted in a hybrid format from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The theme for the summit is “Opportunities Learned in Managing Dairy Cows during COVID” and will cover the impacts, strategies and takeaways for Illinois dairy producers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

The summit will be held in-person at Highland Community College in Freeport. There also will be livestreamed access for those who wish to attend virtually, and a recording of the event will be shared afterward with all registered attendees.

“The dairy industry continues to overcome challenges. Our members are looking forward to gathering in-person and virtually to talk about the effects COVID-19 has had on the dairy industry and our Illinois dairy farmers,” said Tasha Bunting, IMPA manager.

“Throughout every uncertainty, our members have adjusted their business strategies and looked for new opportunities to ensure the same quality and nutritious dairy products remain available to Illinois consumers. This year’s event includes research presentations, as well as a panel of producers to share what they’ve learned and experienced in the ‘new normal.’”

There is no fee to attend this year’s summit, though pre-registration is required to attend. Lunch will be provided to all in-person attendees.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, in-person registration is limited to 60 people and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Masks are also required.
