From the Pastures: Coyotes getting bolder

The weather in November has been surprising. The warmer temperatures have been really nice. We had a chance to complete many of the projects on our fall to-do list. Harvest around us is going strong and it is a pleasure to see the combines in the field.

In the past couple weeks, we have had coyotes come up to the barn area and jump the fence. This is the first time in the 20 years we’ve lived here that coyotes have become a problem. I put all the sheep into the barn and closed paddocks. We have taken other steps to prevent the coyotes from coming back. Other people have told me they are having issues with wildlife coming closer to populated areas. The coyotes are certainly getting bolder.

A customer who previously purchased some of my Shetland yarn ordered more. The yarn is one white twisted with a dark brown, which gives a two-tone color, two-ply yarn. Having a customer order more is rewarding. I never think that I make good yarn. I have been busy getting the wool washed, carded and spun for this order. Our variegated yarn has been popular with our customers.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Hope everyone has a great holiday.
