Illinois grazing conference set

Allen Williams

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Grazing Lands Coalition opened registration for its inaugural statewide grazing conference.

The conference will bring together the Illinois agricultural community to discuss improved grazing management and takes place March 12-13 at Northfield Inn, Suites and Conference Center in Springfield.

“ILGLC is proud to build on our recent work by hosting this grazing conference,” said ILGLC President Cliff Schuette.

“We are bringing together expert speakers and presenters, including Dr. Allen Williams of Understanding Ag LLC. They will paint the picture of improved grazing practices and what that means for Illinois agriculture and the producers who implement them.”

This year’s conference, titled “The Hidden Benefits and Profitability of Illinois Grazing Operations,” is a must-attend event for grazers, farmers, lenders, landowners, Extension and government personnel, agriculture educators, processors, conservationists and all others interested in the economics and profitability of land-use in the next generation, Schuette said.

Over the course of the two-day conference, attendees will hear from experts and experienced producers on the principles of improved grazing management, financial opportunities for transitioning to grazing, discussions on agriculture lending, farmland access, meat marketing and local processing, and much more.

Cost of the conference is $90 per person if registered by Feb. 23. Late registration will be accepted after that deadline for $120.

Registration cost covers admission to the conference and vendor exhibits, meals and conference materials.

Historically underserved producers are encouraged to attend. Scholarships are available for those who need financial assistance.

Conference details and registration can be accessed at www.illinoisgrazingconference.com. Attendees are invited to book overnight stay at the Northfield Inn on March 12.
