Illinois Dairy Summit to highlight sustainability

The 2025 Illinois Dairy Summit will be held from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 6 at Carlyle KC Hall, 1471 Fairfax Street, Carlyle.

CARLYLE, Ill. — Illinois Milk Producers Association and University of Illinois Extension are partnering for the 15th annual Illinois Dairy Summit to highlight how dairy farmers can sustain the industry through research and innovation.

The 2025 Illinois Dairy Summit will be held from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 6 at Carlyle KC Hall in Carlyle.

This year’s theme is “Dairy Sustainability in 2025 and Beyond,” with speakers focusing on how to sustain the dairy industry through research, innovative outlooks and efficiencies. Attendees will also discuss the Federal Milk Marketing Orders and provide insight on dairy inspections.

This year’s speakers are:

• Phil Cardoso, with the University of Illinois, who will talk about strategic trouble shooting for nutrition, reproduction and health in dairy farms.

• Derek Nolan, with the U of I, who will speak about trouble shooting mastitis, understanding mastitis relationships and costs.

• Guy Sprouts, with the Illinois Department of Public Health, who will provide regulatory updates.

• Danny Munch, an economist with the American Farm Bureau Federation, who will talk about navigating dairy policy in 2025.

There is no fee to attend the summit, but registration is required. Lunch will be provided to all attendees with milk snacks courtesy of Prairie Farms.
