MADISON, Ind. — Indiana woodland owners are meeting at Clifty Falls State Park for a conference Nov. 4-5.
The event is hosted by the Indiana Forestry and Woodland Owners Association. More than 150 landowners are expected to attend.
“If you have an interest in forestry — or just love the woods — you should attend,” said Lee Huss, IFWOA president. “We’re offering a program that’s relevant, informative and fun.”
Friday’s field tours will feature morning and afternoon sessions in Jennings and Ripley counties.
The morning session at Southeastern Purdue Ag Center near Butlerville will tour red oak stands. Forester Don Carlson will discuss identifying and managing for oak wilt.
The afternoon session is at a local landowner’s property, with tours of a recovering storm-damaged woodland.
Saturday’s program at the Clifty Inn in Madison offers eight sessions on forest management.
A keynote presentation, “Forestry for the Birds,” is featured. Other topics include enhancing your property with wildlife practices, American chestnut reintroduction and getting a handle on invasive species.
