Langreck: Put your best foot forward

Happy New Year! Goodbye 2020 and hello 2021! These are just a few of the things I heard and thought on New Year’s Eve.

As happy as I was to say adios to 2020 and ring in the new year, I knew that the problems of 2020 haven’t just disappeared with the drop of a ball.

COVID-19 is still a huge threat with hundreds of people testing positive on a daily basis, tensions between people rising and causing unrest and crazy weather from Mother Nature.

However, there are some bright spots on the horizon for 2021, including the COVID-19 vaccine being available in the United States and thousands of first responders and medical workers getting the vaccine first so they can stay healthy and continue to help individuals who get sick.

Hopefully within months, the first dose of the vaccine will be widely available for people all throughout the country, which will hopefully allow individuals the luxury of finding a way back to a sense of normalcy. Although it may not be the same normal that individuals were used to, a sense of familiarity can go a long way.

As far as unrest and peace being in question, my answer to that is simple: Life is way too short for someone to live and be filled with so much hatred that they feel the need to emotionally or physically hurt someone.

I welcome 2021 with open arms, even thought I’m pretty sure there will be some hiccups along the way.
