This is my crash course in chicken rearing. Our farmhouse came with nine chickens, and we’ve fallen in love with them. But we’re learning a lot along the way.
One chicken loves to escape. Another likes to hide up high and jump down on me every time I go in the coop.
I had no idea how much personality a chicken can have until now. All — but one — are super friendly, sociable animals.
I’m delighted that my babies will grow up feeding chickens and collecting eggs. There are so many lessons to learn on a farm, no matter how small the farm is.
