INDIANAPOLIS — The 2023 Indiana Farm Bureau Book of the Year is “I LOVE Strawberries!” — a book about a girl’s love for the fruit and her journey to learn more about growing it.
The story follows the main character, Jolie, as she learns how difficult and rewarding it is to grow your own food.
The scrapbook-style entries show how strawberries grow, what pests to look out for in a garden, why ladybugs are helpful and more.
INFB chose the book with the goal of bringing awareness to diversified agriculture, integrated pest management and u-pick farms.
“I LOVE Strawberries” is written by Hoosier native Shannon Anderson, with illustrations by Jaclyn Sinquett. It is published by Feeding Minds Press.
Throughout 2023, INFB volunteers will visit classrooms to read the book, or donate books for future use.
A free coordinating curriculum is provided for teachers wishing to incorporate the book into their class work.
