WILLIAMSBURG, Ind. — AgriNews and Beck’s proudly recognized the Frame family as the 2025 Indiana Farm Family of the Year.
Tim and Julie Frame own The Barn at Helm — a corn, soybean and flower farm in Wayne County in east-central Indiana.
In addition to being an agritourism destination, the farm is described as “a happy place” for the community to gather.
“It’s such an honor to be recognized,” said Julie Frame. “We love our community, and it’s such an honor to represent Wayne County. I think our kids and grandkids are proud of us. They are part of this amazing, rich heritage, too.
“In fact, our 6-year-old grandson, Judah, took the mic at the award ceremony and proceeded to tell the entire audience all the things he loves doing at the farm. Seriously, we are truly grateful for the help of our sons, Jake Frame of Denver and Luke Frame and his family from Nashville.
“It’s always great when they are home and can both help and enjoy something we are so passionate about. We also have over 40 volunteers that help each year on the farm. We could never do it without such a supportive tribe and community.”
Julie, a first-generation farmer, has been growing four acres of specialty cut flowers for 10 years.
“I always did the corn and soybeans by myself, but when the flower idea came along, that was something we created and built together from scratch,” Tim Frame said.
“We did it together and we’re still married,” he joked.
Tim is a fifth-generation farmer who has been active on the farm since he was a teenager.
The Frames love to repurpose parts of their farm as their operation changes and grows. They took a grain bin from the original homestead and transformed it into a gazebo for the concerts they host.
The farm is a community hub for people to have their photos taken, schools to host dances and other activities throughout the year. Visitors love posing for pictures with the family’s 1964 red truck.
Each year, the Frames dig up tulip and dahlia bulbs to nourish through winter and replant in the spring.
The Barn at Helm was the first flower farm at the Richmond Farmers Market. They helped grow the market, which was rated second in Indiana, fourth in the Midwest and seventh nationally in 2023.
The family is now working to grow the Centerville Farmers Market.
“Farm families like the Frames are the backbone of our industry,” said Scott Beck, president of Beck’s.
“Their generosity, innovation and leadership inspire us all. They’ve created a space where people can connect, learn and experience the joy of agriculture. We are honored to recognize them as this year’s Indiana Farm Family of the Year.”
The Frames are leaders in multiple organizations, including Indiana Grown, the Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Centerville.
The family enjoys delivering flowers to hospitals and care facilities to brighten others’ days.
Each year, Tim brings his John Deere combine to the fairgrounds to teach third- and fourth-grade students about farming.
